IHS Umuahia: old students vowed to uplift the standard of learning

President of  class 1997 Ibeku High School Umuahia old students association Hon Nwaubani Uduchukwu, has vowed that his class would contribute its quotas towards uplifting the standard of the institution.

Speaking shortly after the Annual General meeting of the class in Umuahia the Abia state capital Uduchukwu, said the class started with a  reunion last yeark after 21years leaving the school.

He said, "Our aim is to give  give back to our alma mater. Considering the immoral acts going on in our various Public schools this days,  we decided to come together to see how we can make a change in our school by looking for how we can help solve some problems in the school.

"The principal has given us a list of projects to be handled in the school, by 2020 AGN we will choose one to do for the school.

He encourage the members of the class across the world to form branches of the association and always report to the association secretaite.

"We will also contribute to the welfare of our members", he added.

One of the members of the class Mr ogbonnaya Obike, urged teachers in the school to pay close attention to their students and always report suspicious character  to security agancies.

Obike who is a personal aid to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, advised students schooling in the school to shun cultism and build their capacity to become the leaders of tommorow.

In his remarks the President General IHS old students  association Barr. Joe Ijeoma, decried the fallen standards of education in public schools.

He lamented that some classrooms in public schools were not good enough for teaching and learning.

He said the challenges teachers in the public face in terms of the remuneration may have stopped them from giving their best.

He called for approximate remuneration of teachers to encourage them to put in their best.

He equally added that approximate infrastructures for teaching and learning should be made available to the schools.

"The security within the schools premises must be of utmost importance and social and political events must be fixed when the students are not in school," he added.
