The Senior Special Adviser to the Abia state Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, on Agric value chain/youth and gender training comrade Nobel C C Adaelu,
is currently promoting a Youth Empowerment for sustainable Agriculture program in the state.
Noble in a statement made available to Citytimes pointed out that the alarming unemployment and crime rate amongst the youths in Nigeria calls for a holistic approach to address the anomaly.
He stated that in order to create gainful employment, reduce crime rate, youth restiveness, increase food productivity and discourage rural/urban migration, the YESA program has become sacrosanct.
He explained that the program which is his own initiative was designed to train and empower Abia youths on agricbusiness, support their ability on increased Food productivity and enhanced agricultural development of the state.
He said, "The youths are the strength of the nation, their energy and number can provide tremendous opportunities for increasing food productivity and enhanced agriculture development of the state.
"The training and its empowerment package (start - up pack) will help the state to address youth restiveness, women and youths unemployment.
"It will increase food sufficiency, reduce the crime rate and make a bold statement that Agriculture is a sustainable wealth Creation demanding the full participation of the youths and women,".
He stated that the novel program will be domiciled in the rural areas where over 65 percent of Abians resides.
