Chairman of Abia State chapter of All Progressives Congress Chief Donatus Nwankpa has urged members of the party in the state to close ranks and work for the common good of APC.
This is even as he said the party was one that hold its elders in high esteem and would at all times give them the deserved respect.
Reacting to a statement in which the state publicity secretary of party, Benedict Godson berated a Chieftain of the party in Abia, Prince Benjamin Apugo for saying that APC lost the 2019 governorship election because her candidate, Uche Ogah sold out, Nwankpa said he believed Godson may have been quoted out of context.
He said, "I know that the publicity secretary is not supposed to take sides with anybody when there is any misunderstanding in the party. I believe he must have been quoted out of context. He couldn't have on his own called Prince Apugo a liar.
"Some people complained about the language he used, that is unfortunate because we should not do or say something that would betray us as insulting our elders.
"When there is any issue in the party, we should not do something that shows we are taking sides, our responsibility is to ensure that such issue is resolved amicably to the good of all especially when it involves an elder in the standing of Prince Apugo".
Nwamkpa said it was always good the younger ones learn how to talk to elders with respect, adding that he has directed the publicity secretary not to issue further statement on the issue as not to create acrimony in the party.
He said the party wants all it's members to close ranks and work towards the success of the party to make it great.
