A statement by his Media assistant Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, on Friday stated that the donation was part of Otti's
anti Coronavirus interventions through some of some health institutions in the state.
The statement read in part,"
I was accompanied by a few of our members on Friday March 27, 2020, to presented the first batch of our Medical Equipment to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia and Madonna Catholic Hospital, Umuahia respectively.
"At FMC and Madonna Hospital respectively, we presented the equipment on behalf of our Principal, Dr. Alex Otti OFR and the Alex Otti Foundation.
"We restated our position, that the donations were our little ways of offering support and assistance aimed at protecting the lives of millions of Abians, at a time when the Coronavirus Pandemic is ravaging humanity and putting the lives of millions at risk.
"We assured the management of the hospital that more supplies were coming, in line with Dr. Alex Otti's long standing policy of ensuring that he keeps every of his promise to the fullest, especially when the issue at stake bothers on the lives of the people.
"We made it clear that the lives of Abians matter most at this point in time, hence the need for all hands to be on deck in defeating the threat posed by Covid-19 in Abia state.
Ekeoma pointed out that the Medical Director in Charge of FMC Dr. Michael Onyebuchi and the Administrator in Charge of Madonna Hospital Umuahia, Rev. Father Dr. Christian Anokwuru, respectively lauded Dr. Alex Otti's humanitarian intervention at this critical moment, and promised to ensure the utilisation of the equipment for the purpose it was meant for, while praying for God's abundant blessings on Dr. Otti.
They called on governornment at all levels to intensify effort in the fight against Covid-19, and also advised the state government to ensure that every information it dishes out at this time of desperate need, is accurate and reliable, and warned against the politicization of the fight against Covid-19.
