ENDSARS: Abia Police parades 18 suspects for murder, looting, and burnings of properties, recover one gun Ogbonnaya Ikokwu, Umuahia


 

The Commissioner of Police in Abia State Mrs Janet Agbede on Wednesday paraded 18 irate youths allegedly involved in looting and burning of government and private properties during the  #Endsars  protest in the state.


She revealed that  the suspects  brutally murdered two police officers, beheaded  and burnt one of them to ashes on Tuesday October 20, 2020.


The CP also pointed our that the suspects looted and burnt down a building housing a unit of the  police at old zone 6 annexed in Aba.


She said,"The suspects attempted  attack on police station and correctional Service Centre  simultaneously in 

Umuahia with intent to set them ablaze but were repelled by the police in conjunction with the military.


"Furthermore, the #ENDSARS# protest suspects burnt five banks, A High  court and magistrate courts, Aba Town hall, Abia State Fire service building, 102 government and  private vehicles.


"Others were the Onions, yam and water melon markets in Aba and street  light in Aba and Umuahia". 


The CP added that one FNC rife with 12 rounds of live ammunition and other weapons used in connection with the killing, looting and burning of properties.


She warned  those who are still  having  properties belonging to the government and private individuals in the state looted during the protest to return them within one week or face the full weight of the law. 


The CP reassured law abiding citizens and residents of the state to go about their lawful business without fear, as the law enforcement agencies are ready to protect their lives and properties.
