The Senate President , Ahmed lawan, has urged politicians of Abia state extraction to work hard to promote the unity of Nigeria.
He said Nigeria might have many tribes, cultures and languages but it was designed for its citizen to live a common purpose for promoting peace unity and love.
lawan, spoke in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area country home of the Senate Chief Whip Chief Orji uzor-Kalu on the occasion marking the 10th year memorial service of his father late Chief Johnson uzor-Kalu.
The Senate president said Abia is fortunate enough to have three out of the twenty principal officers in the Senate, adding that the state can leverage on such political achievement to join the centre of Nigerian politics.
"This occasion is not a political event, but the people's event, it shows that we can all come together to achieve the unity we have been preaching in Nigeria", he said.
He charged members of late Pa uzor-Kalu family to hold on to the good virtues of their late father who laboured to raise them and remain United as one family.
He commended the Senate Chief Whip and his entire family for finding time to celebrate the lives and times of their late father.
Earlier the Senate Chief Whip lauded his guests including Governor Dave Umahi of Eboyi state Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state Gov. Hope Uzordinma of Imo state, the Senate minority leader Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Theodore Orji and others for finding time to attend his late father's memory service.
