The President General of Ohuhu welfare Union in Umuahia North Local Government, Abia state, Chief Obi Aguocha has charged the members of the Ohuhu Vigilante group to be committed to the task of providing security to their communities.
Speaking during an official visit to the Vigilante group office at Ekeoba village on Monday Aguocha commended the members of the group for volunteering to serve their father land.
He urged them to always laise with security agents in the state as they operate in their various communities.
The PG assured the group that the Ohuhu welfare Union under his watch will continue to provide support and assistance to enable them to succeed in their duties.
He said, "Our prayer is that God will guard you all as you serve our people and you will not lose your lives.
"We came to see how you are faring so far and we are pleased with the level of progress this group has made.
"We are glad to know that the aim of establishing this group was achieved because we discovered that those handling the project did a good job".
He charged the members of the group to imbibe the culture of discipline and respect the constituted authorities within the group for easy running of the group.
"Many people in the Ohuhu land are desiring to be part of this group today, you must not take the opportunity of belonging here for granted.Respect the Commander and all your commanders in your various zones and villages".
The PG who commissioned four motorcycles for the group's operation also promised that more motorcycles and patrol vehicle will be given to them to make their job easy.
While thanking the management team of the Ohuhu Vigilante Group led by the President General, for the support given to him and the rank and file of the OVG, to bring the Security outfit to function operationally, the Commander General,
Mr Douglas Achugo, further appeal for more support in the provision of licensed light arms, to make them better combat ready to fight crime.
He also requested for Identify cards, and operational vehicles for ease of movement and coordination of the security personnel of OVG.
