A chieftain of the All Progr
essive Congress in Abia state Chief Ikechi Emenike, has urged the people of the South-East geo-political zone
to join the party if they hoped to realize their 2023 presidential ambitions.
There have been clamour for the South-East geo-political zone to produce a Nigerian president by 2023.
Emenike, who spoke in his Umuahia Country home on Saturday while receiving the members of the APC registration and membership revalidation committee led by Ambassador Mohammed Mairiga, said the people of the South-East cannot achieve their aims without identifying with the ruling party en masse.
He said, "There's the tendency for our people to complain that they are excluded from the scheme of things in the party, but if you are not a member of the party how can you benefit from its sharing formula?
"The best way for the people of the zone to claim ownership of the party is to come out en masse and take advantage of the opportunity of this registration process and become part of the party.
"That's why we want every member of the party in the state no matter our differences to revalidate their membership and also encourage other Abia residents to register with the party, so that we can have a strong voice in the state and at the National echelon of the party.
He added that the target of the state chapter of the party was to capture anybody available, "If possible we can even go to the government house and register people".
"If we don't have members in the party, how would we think of the leadership of the country. Just like in Abia state, if our leaders refuses to mobilize for membership how do we think of taking over the state?", He said.
