Ahead of the launch of the official platform of E-Station, the Abia State Field Office of the Department of Petroleum Resources in Umuahia has met with stakeholders in the Petroluem Market Sector with an appeal for early cue into the new system.
The field office on Wednesday held a one day sensitization on e-station operations.
The Operations Controller Engr. Emmanuel Okoro told participants drawn from various petrol stations, retail outlets and depots that the system was a portal that will collect data on the movement of petroleum products from depots, the stock levels and dispense from all retail outlets.
He hinted that the portal which would be launched formerly in Abuja on Thursday February 11, 2021, will among others help marketers submit receipts of products bought and sold to the DPR.
He added that the system will aid government plan ahead of time and attend to questions of supply and consumption.
Okoro stated that the E-Station will also guide the government to know the quantity of product to send to each zone of the country.
He pointed out that the system will equally assist those doing research to access data for analysis easily in the downstream sector.
He said, "We have presented the proposed E-Station system to the owners of retail outlets, we also had an interactive session with them.
"They presented their fears through questions and we have answered their questions and we believe that their fears had been allayed, with that we believe they will Key into the system as soon as possible".
One of the participants Mr Sampson Nwaokorie, the chairman Umuahia Oil Marketers Association, said the system was a welcome development especially for businessmen of the computer age
He urged the members of the association to key into the system, adding that the process will certainly be beneficial to them in the nearest future.
