The senator representing the Abia North senatorial district Senator Orji Uzor-Kalu, has reaffirmed his commitment towards attracting infrastructural projects to his constituents.
Kalu, who is the Senate Chief whip spoke from various projects sites in Bende and Ohafia Local Government Areas during a tour of intervention projects in his Constituency.
He said the projects which were funded by the federal Government through the zonal intervention project initiative were the fulfillment of his campaign promises to his constituents.
He pointed out he had asked each community he went for campaign in the run up to the 2019 general election to choose a project that was pressing to them and he went to the senate with the request of the people to make intervention on their behalf.
Kalu, added that the projects which were on going cut across road construction and rehabilitation, class rooms reconstruction and drilling of Motorized boreholes.
The projects sites visited includes,a 3 kilometres road project with drainage and asphalt at Amaokwu Item, a 2 kilometre road project with drainage and asphalt at Amaeke-Apaanu Item all in Bende LGA.
He also toured a 7 Kilometres road project that cut across Nkporo community, a 7 Kilometres road project at Abia Ohafia, a 7 Kilometres road project at Isigwu Ohafia and Okonu road rehabilitation projects.
Other projects sites visited were the motorized borehole project at Amurie Nkporo, motorized borehole project at Agbaja Ndiagbo Nkporo.
The senator also visited and inspected two primary school blocks reconstructed at Item Central primary school and Akanu Ohafia.
Kalu, who expressed satisfaction at the level of job being done at the project sites, stated that he attracted the projects and many others to ensure that the dividends of democracy gets to his constituents at rural areas.
He said, "I believe that every community in my Constituency should have access to a good road, portable drinking water, electricity and good schools for the children.
"When I came to campaign at Abia community in Ohafia LGA, they told me that no government had ever remembered them. Their road was unpassable to the extent that they still carry casket of dead people on their head for burial and I promised them that we will fix the road for them.
"We attracted a 7 Kilometres road for them, the phase 1 of 2 kilometers had been completed but the contractor will go back to site and continue with the job by April. The same thing is applicable to the road at isiugwu and others.
"These road projects will boast economic activities and better the lives of the rural dwellers. I'm urging our youth to think home and invest in agriculture because we are providing enabling environment for them to succeed.
"The motorized borehole project at Amurie and Agbaja Ndiagbo Nkporo, were the fulfillment of the campaign promise we made there. When the first contractor handling the project was unable to strike at water we have to involve the Julius Berger who came with more sophisticated drilling equipment and for the first time in the history of the community water was found at a commercial quantity and the people are happy".
Community leaders in the area confirmed that all attempts to drill borehole in the past were not successful.
Chief Arua Arunsi and Prince Ndukwe Orji-Agu who lauded kalu, for breaking the jinx and said the quality of life of the indigenes of the community will improve as they would stop drinking untreated water which had often led to water born diseases and deaths in the area .
Traditional rulers including Ezieogo Mba odo-okereke and Ezie Ogo Okorie Ukpe Okorie, launded Kalu for his effective representation in the Senate, praying God to Grant him his heart desires.
