In a recent development, ninety four (94) Abia students across the seventeen (17) local government areas of Abia State are set to receive full scholarships for the 2021/2022 academic year.
The Chancellor, Gregory University Uturu, Prof. Gregory Ibe dropped the cheering news while receiving a Chieftaincy title of "Uri Chi Dere" during the 'Iri Ji' festival of Mgboko Amaise autonomous community in Obingwa local government area.
According to Prof. Greg Ibe represented by the Chairman Abia Crusaders Foundation, Prince Emeka Okafor, who was accompanied by the members of same Foundation Steering Committee, each of the seventeen (17) local government areas will receive four (4) slots, making up the 68 slots while twenty six (26) indigent ones also drawn from the seventeen local government areas making up the 96 and disclosed that the scholarship awards will cover extensive fields of study including Medicine and Surgery, nursing and many more.
He recalled that last year alone one hundred (100) scholarships were awarded and over three hundred and fifty (350) students are on scholarship awards since the inception of the scheme.
While dedicating the Chieftaincy title to the youths of Abia State , he further explained that the Scholarship awards is handled by Gregory University Scholarship Board.
