A frontline governorship aspirant in the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Sir Chikwe Udensi, has begun disbursement of financial grant to petty traders in the 17 local government areas of the state.
He said the exercise was intended to encourage the traders to grow their businesses through diligent hard work.
Udensi, spoke while giving money to traders in Avia Ohuru market in Arochukwu on Tuesday.
He said, "The grant we are giving to the traders is to help them sustain their businesses in our own little way, this exercise will go round the 17 local government areas of Abia State.
“I will also start the petty trader welfare programme that will be done in all the local government area of the state.
“I’ll be doing the programme every month just as I’ve started today”.
In her remarks Rotarian Mary Udensi,the President of Rotary club International, Abuja downtown, said the essence of the cash support and partnership with Build A New Abia initiative of Sir Chikwe Udensi(BANA) is to motivate and encourage women traders to work harder.
Some of the beneficiaries including
Stella Sunday, Ngozi Okoroafor, commended Udensi for the kind gestures, adding that he had been motivated to work harder.
It would be recalled that the security expert had in the past done a palliative distribution programme for pensioners and elderly with medical care support.
