A former Commissioner for Local Government and chieftain affairs in Abia State Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, has come under fire over an ultimatum he issued against Chief Mao Ohuabunwa and Nnenna Ukaeja for allegedly saying they will not campaign for presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic party Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Ogbonnaya, also accused Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, of following Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State like house boy, describing their friendship as  inimical to the progress of Abia State.

Ogbonnaya, had in statement on Friday September 23, 2022 given
Ohuabunwa and Ukaeja 48 hours to retract an alleged anti-party statement acredited to them or face sanction from the party.

The duo were accused to have declared that they would neither support nor campaign for the presidential candidate of PDP.

He threatened to would mobilize PDP members across the state and voters against them, if they failed to retract the alleged the statement.

Ohuabunwa is the PDP Abia North Senatorial district candidate, while Ukaeja is running for Bende federal constituency election understand the PDP.

But reacting on development on Sunday, the member presenting Umuahia East state constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Chief Chukwudi Apugo, called the bluff of Ogbonnaya, over the ultimatum issued against the two ranking members of the PDP in the state.

He wondered on what platform  Ogbonnaya, issued his ultimatum from and whose interest he was trying to protect.

Apugo, who admitted that the PDP has a lot of work to do in order to win the presidential, governorship, national and state Assembly elections in the state called on the party chairman in Abia State Alwell Asifuro, to rise to the occasion and call people like Ogbonnaya, to order to forstore his numerous attacks on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and members of the PDP in the state.

He advised the party's presidential candidate Abubakar to reach out to Wike and other party faithfuls across the nation for the party to resolve all her internal differences ahead of commercement of the election campaigns.

He said, "it's laugble that the former Commissioner is issuing an ultimatum against Ohuabunwa and Ukaeja who are ranking members of the party in the state over an alleged anti-party activities. Ohuabunwa is a member of PDP National Executive Council of the party.

"It is also funny that he is calling out Gov. Ikpeazu in the media over his friendship with Gov Wike.

"I want to state it loud and clear that if there is anyone indulging in anti-party activities in Abia PDP it is chief Charles Ogbonnaya.

"He has openly said he will not support our governorship candidate Prof Uche Ikonne and he's campaigning for the candidate  of another party.

"I don't know if he's still a member of the the PDP since the candidate of another political party running for a state Assembly seat is even living in his house.

"That's why I want our party chairman in the state Chief Asifuro to act now. He should not allow the party to die in his hands because people are watching us. Someone who embarrasses the governor from time to time should be sanctioned by the party leadership

"For chief Charles Ogbonnaya's claims that he's is the campaign coordinator of Atiku Abubakar, I want our presidential candidate to speak with our governor Ikpeazu, to nominate his campaign coordinator in the state".
