The Governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party, (APP) in Abia, chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, has promised to embark on a massive infrastructural development exercise if elected governor in 2023.
He vowed that his administration will construct 10- 15 kilometers new roads in each local government area of the state to connect the rural and urban areas of the state.
The APP flag bearer maintained that his administration will reconstruct the drainage systems in Aba the commercial hub of the state to tackle the flood menace in the city during the rainy season.
He added that his government will also rehabilitate primary and secondary schools across the State and equip them with modern educational facilities as well as fence them for security purposes.
Mascot, who spoke during an interaction with journalist on Friday in Umuahia the State capital, said he is the best among all the candidates seeking to occupy the Abia number one seat, adding he would bring the experience has garnered in the business world and politics to make Abia envy of other States.
He stated that his will invest heavily in Aba as the revenue generating base of the State within the first 90 days of his administration, pointing out that the return to such investment will provide revenue for the development of other parts of the State.
He said, "we will create 10,000 jobs each year bringing it to a total of 40,000 in the first 4 years of our administration in other to reduce unemployment rate of the State.
"The number of youths roaming the streets of Abia without jobs is alarming, having taken into account the frustration among the youths, we will begin on time to address the issue of unemployment in the State when we come on board.
"We will also to revive moribund companies: Coca-Cola, Modern Ceramics among others by partnering with businessmen in the private sector as well invest in the Tourism sector, Azumini Blue River and other Tourists sites in the State.
"The prompt payment of workers’ salaries will be our top priority, salaries will be paid between 25th and 29th of every month, this will baost the morale of our workers and grow the economy of the state".
Also speaking the deputy governorship candidate of the Prof Osondu Akomas, urged the electorates to vote for all the candidates of the party, pointing out that they determined to change the story of governance in the state
