The All Progressive Grand Alliance candidate for Abia North senatorial district in the 2023 general election Barr. Carol Okoroafor, has vowed to rewrite the history of representation in the constituency to the advantage rural dwellers.
She said the 2023 general election would definitely be a defining moment in Nigeria's political landscape as well as that of Abia state and Abia North senatorial district.
Okoroafor, who spoke in Umuahia the Abia state capital on Tuesday revealed that rather than brandishing length manifestos with no substantial plans to bring it to fruition, she will rather tour the either district to communicate her vision to the constituents.
She however pointed out that her area of priority would include poverty eradication, youth and women empowerment, women inclusiveness in governance and a renewed interest in attracting federal projects to the constituency through lobbying.
Okoroafor, maintained that she would hold periodic town hall meetings to get the pulses of her constituents and dialogue with them on the right way to spend constituency funds.
She said, "There's a need to interact with the people to find out what their needs are and how to adjust to solve those needs.
"We cannot continue to pretend that all is well, because that would be lying to ourselves. The dilapidated conditions of our society, monumental decays in Abia North, the political decadence and the I don't care attitude of our leaders must be addressed as a matter of urgency.
"Only the persons of immense pedigree are needed now. As John Maxwell says, everything rises and fall under leadership. Abia North have not been fortunate to have good leadership in the last few decades.
"I believe strongly that the lots that have indicated interest to vie for the office of the Senate in Abia North I stand tall above all, because of my civil service background and my experience in legal practice".
