Five Peoples Democratic party governors led by the Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike,  are expected to attend the 4th Edition of the Igbo International Christmas Retreat organized by the Igbo Think Tank and Nzuko Ndigbo scheduled to hold in Umuahia, Abia state.

Other governors in the group
popularly known as the G5  expected to attend the event to interface on their mission and vision are Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwanyi (Enugu), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

The organization in a statement in Umuahia on Friday announced that the retreat will hold on Wednesday  December 28, 2022 at the Micheal Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.

The Chairman of  Board of Trustees (B.O.T) Prof. Madubuike Ezeibe, Igbo Think Tank and Chuks Ibegbu, Local Organizing Chairman/Leader, Nzuko Ndigbo, in a statement announced that the Theme of this year's retreat is "Ndigbo Yesterday Today And Tomorrow" and the sub theme is "Ndigbo In Geopolitics Of Nigeria, The Case of 2023."

According to the BOT Chairman, the event will be enriched with timely and educative lectures by sound experts and will be attended by Igbos at home and in diaspora.

Prof. Madubuike revealed that the maidian event of the  retreat was in 2016 and was first hosted by Ogbonaya Onu, the first governor of Abia state.

He also added that the event is usually a time for the Igbos to have a rethink of the way forward. He said the group's agenda brings harmony to Igbo land and all other parts of Nigeria in order to bring peace.

Recalling how the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) went into extinction, Prof. Madubuike revealed that the political calculation that brought former president Olusegun Obasanjo and Olu Falaye, led to peace also recalling how the former governor of Ekiti state was in charge of Kudirat radio which is the same role Nnamdi Kanu is playing.

"Fayemi became a clean man and the leader of other governors and he played a good role, so it is possible that the people you call this....today will come out and become wonderful people. If we play the same card that elders played in 1999......but suddenly people started saying that rotation is no longer there but on merit.

"So we are concerned in whatever we can do for peace to remain in the country. In this year's retreat we have so many important things to discuss. We are looking for peace in Nigeria, not only in the south east". Prof. Madubuike revealed.
