I will clear backlog of salaries within the first 100 days in office - Lancaster-Okoro

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party in Abia Barr. Nnenna Lancaster-Okoro, has said she will upset the backlog of unpaid salaries, pensions and gratuity within the first 100 days in office if elected governor in 2023.

She said although she might meet an empty treasurer her government will borrow to upset workers salaries to save the lives of Abians before internally generated revenue will start coming.

Okoro, who spoke in Umuahia on Wednesday in an exclusive interactive session with journalists, added that political office holders who fail to pay workers in the state were worse than animal because they lacked compassion.

Okoro, realved that it was the quest to rewrite the wrongs of successive adminstrations in the state that spoured her to join the 2023 governorship race.

She said, "We have gotten to the point where we must do things right in Abia State. What will I be remembered for? if I can do something good to change our story and I refuse to it.

"Maybe as i have joined the race it will tell the men it's nolonger business as usual. If I'm not compassionate about this project all I could done was to travel back to England or go back to Abuja and remain there till my old age. But people will remember me and say that woman has the guts but couldn't do anything to change her state for the better.

"I'm not doing this for people for to clap for me, I'm doing it more for the  women, both young, old and little girls. If we don't fight for the women, they will become nothing one day".

The governorship hopeful also vowed to prioritize infrastructural development in the state, starting with the construction of rural access road to connect rural communities in the state.

She pointed out that agriculture will receive serious attention under her watch to bust food production in order to reduce hunger in the state.

Okoro, harped that her government will revive moribond industries in the state as well as build new ones to create employment for the youths in the state.
