Ukoha Unity Cup Finals: Arochukwu Ward 1 Defeats Ututu Ward to Lift Trophy

 



It was like a battle of two elephants, engaging in a serious rivalry in order to emerge victorious at the end.


This battle however, was between Arochukwu Ward 1 and Ututu Ward squaring up against each other in the finals to determine who wins.


The final match started at about 3:40PM, with both teams very eager to carry the day, however, in the first half, Arochukwu Ward 1, opened score against Ututu Ward.


Ututu Ward equalised it in the second half, leading to a penalty shoot out after a full time play, with both teams drawing 1-1 each.


Arochukwu Ward 1 won the match 5-4 in their favour in penalty shoot out, after a wonderful outing from both sides.


Speaking at Aggrey Memorial Secondary School field, venue of the competition, the sponsor of the competition, Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha, who was full of excitement, thanked all those that came to watch the match.


He explained that the competition was initiated by his office to bring UNITY in Arochukwu LGA, through football.


The Lawmaker further stated that through the football match, it has helped to identify boys that can be sponsored in future, assuring that he will partner with Arochukwu Sports Organization to make it better.


Hon. Ukoha, promised to move further in promoting female competition in order to accommodate some female players in Arochukwu LGA, and give them a sense of belonging.


He thanked Ututu players who came second in the competition, for their sportsmanship, adding that he will remain grateful to their experience in football.


The Minority Whip, also thanked his colleagues, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, member representing Bende North and Hon. Emeka Okoroafor, member representing Isuikwuato State Constituencies for standing by him and prayed God to bless every one mightily.


Also speaking, the Director General, Ignis Ogbonna Foundation, Hon. Jeff Okafor, lauded the untiring efforts of Hon. Mike Ukoha, in making Arochukwu LGA better, especially through football.


He noted that football is the only avenue to easily unite the people, assuring that Ignis Ogbonna Foundation will be willing to partner with the Lawmaker in future to advance the fortune of our youths.


The DG, announced a cash reward to the scorers from both teams in the final match, which according to him was part of the promise they made in order to support the players. 


High points of the match were presentation of  medals to the players, presentation of trophies 

to the Winners and the second runner-up among other events.
